IRO (Independent Reviewing Officer)

Role:  IRO (Independent Reviewing Officer) Location:  Midlands Team: CP - Safeguarding Pay: £42 per hour Contract: Full-Time Locum In the office: Hybrid   Are you looking to join a forward thinking team within a leading children's services organisation? We have an exciting opportunity to join the Midlands team as an Independent Reviewing Officer (IRO). This role offers the chance to make a real difference to the lives of vulnerable children and young people within the local community. As an IRO, you will be responsible for chairing and producing all statutory reviews, including Child Protection Conferences, Looked after Children Reviews and Adoption Reviews. We are looking for an individual with a wealth of knowledge and experience in working with children and young people. The ideal candidate will be highly motivated, have excellent communication skills and a passion for making a positive difference. The successful applicant will be responsible for: • Chairing reviews and acting as an independent voice for the child • Acting as a link between the child, family and all agencies involved in the care of the child • Ensuring that all reviews are conducted in accordance with the requirements of the relevant legislation • Ensuring that the child’s wishes and feelings are taken into account • Ensuring that recommendations are made and implemented to benefit the child and that all agencies are held to account • Writing reports and making recommendations after reviews • Liaising with all parties involved in the care of the child • Carrying out follow-up visits and/or contact with the child, family and other agencies • Ensuring the views of the child are at the heart of the review process The ideal candidate will have: • A degree or professional qualification in social work • A minimum of 5 years’ experience working within the field of social care • Working knowledge and experience of the relevant legislation • Proven experience of chairing reviews and working with children, young people and families • Excellent communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills • The ability to work independently and as part of a team • The ability to be analytical and make decisions • Experience of working in partnership with other professionals • The ability to write concise and professional reports • The use of IT systems and software packages This is a fantastic opportunity to join a growing team in a dynamic and rewarding role.
