Havering Borough Council is seeking an experienced Senior Practitioner to join their Adults Safeguarding team. This is a fantastic opportunity to step into a leadership role within a well-respected local authority, taking ownership of complex safeguarding work while supporting best practice and mentoring others across the team.

The Adults Safeguarding team plays a vital role in protecting vulnerable adults and ensuring legal, ethical, and person-centred practice. The council fosters a culture of professional growth and reflective practice, offering practitioners the tools, autonomy, and support they need to make a genuine difference.
Lead on complex adult safeguarding enquiries under Section 42 of the Care Act
Offer consultation and professional support to frontline Social Workers
Conduct high-quality risk assessments and develop safeguarding plans
Liaise effectively with multi-agency partners, including health, police, and advocacy
Promote and embed best practice within the team
Maintain accurate, timely case recording and reporting
Social Work England registration
Minimum of 4 years’ post-qualified experience in adult social care
In-depth knowledge of the Care Act, Mental Capacity Act, and safeguarding frameworks
Strong assessment, decision-making, and leadership skills
Experience supporting or mentoring colleagues
Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to complete one)
Up to £36 per hour
Hybrid working – 3 days in the office, 2 from home
