Introduction

Walsall Council is looking for an experienced Mental Health Social Worker to join their team. This role involves both frontline practice and supervisory responsibilities, ensuring high standards of care and compliance with key legislation.
 

About the Role

As a Mental Health Social Worker, you will:

• Supervise and line manage staff, including absence management and mentoring
• Quality assure reports and ensure compliance with legal and procedural standards
• Chair meetings and work collaboratively within a Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT)
• Undertake Care Act duties, including Section 9 assessments and Section 27 reviews
• Support with Section 117 aftercare and alternative duties in line with:
  • The Mental Capacity Act 2005
  • The Mental Health Act 1983/2007
  • The Equality Act 2010
  • Additional relevant legislation
     

About You

To be successful in this role, you must have:

• Social Work England registration
• Strong knowledge of mental health legislation and safeguarding
• Experience in supervising and mentoring staff
• Skills in meeting chairing and working within an MDT
• Excellent assessment and report-writing skills
