Advanced Practitioner – Child Protection

Lewisham Council | Locum | £41.10 per hour | Hybrid Working

Lewisham Council is seeking an experienced Advanced Practitioner to join their Child in Need (CIN) and Child Protection (CP) Team. This is a senior frontline role focused on managing complex safeguarding cases, driving best practice, and supporting the development of less experienced social workers.

You will play a key role in delivering high-quality, relationship-based social work, ensuring children are safeguarded and families are supported to achieve sustainable change.

In this role, you will:

• Manage a complex caseload of CIN and CP cases
• Undertake advanced assessments and risk analysis
• Lead on Child Protection processes, including strategy discussions and conferences
• Develop and review outcome-focused care plans
• Provide mentoring, coaching, and support to social workers and ASYEs
• Contribute to practice development and service improvement
• Work closely with multi-agency partners to safeguard children
• Maintain high-quality and accurate case recordings

What You’ll Need:

• Social Work England Registration
• Social Work Qualification
• Significant post-qualified experience in children’s social care
• Strong experience within CIN/CP and safeguarding services
• Confidence managing complex and high-risk cases
• Ability to support and develop others within the team
• Excellent assessment, analytical, and decision-making skills
