Advaned Practitioner - Child Protection

Lambeth | Locum | £41.10 per hour | Child Protection Team

Lambeth Council is seeking an experienced Advanced Practitioner to join their Child Protection Team. This is an excellent opportunity for a confident and skilled practitioner to take on a key role supporting high-quality practice within a fast-paced statutory children’s service.

In this role, you’ll manage a complex child protection caseload, undertaking statutory assessments, Section 47 enquiries, and court-related work where required. You will also play a pivotal role in supporting, mentoring, and guiding less-experienced social workers, contributing to reflective practice and ensuring interventions are timely, child-focused, and outcome-driven.

You’ll work closely with children, families, and multi-agency partners to reduce risk, safeguard children, and promote long-term stability. A strong understanding of thresholds, risk assessment, and child protection legislation is essential, alongside the ability to make confident, evidence-based decisions.

What You’ll Need:

• Social Work England Registration
• Recognised Social Work Qualification
• Extensive experience within statutory child protection
• Experience working at Advanced Practitioner or senior level
• Strong knowledge of child protection legislation, guidance, and thresholds
• Proven ability to manage high-risk and complex cases
• Experience supporting, mentoring, or overseeing other social workers
• Excellent assessment, decision-making, and court-related skills
