Assessing Social Worker – Fostering Recruitment and Assessment Team

Camden | Locum | £36 per hour | Hybrid Working

Camden Council is seeking an experienced and motivated Assessing Social Worker to join their Fostering Recruitment and Assessment Team. You’ll play a key role in recruiting, assessing, and preparing foster carers and supported lodging hosts to provide safe and stable homes for children and young people.

In this role, you will:

• Recruit and assess prospective foster carers and supported lodging hosts
• Deliver pre-approval training, including Skills to Foster
• Complete Form F assessments, Host Assessments, and specialist fostering assessments
• Participate in the fostering duty rota several days per month
• Contribute to team activities such as carer support groups and training sessions
• Attend outreach and marketing events to promote fostering with Camden

What You’ll Need:

• Social Work England Registration
• Social Work Qualification (DipSW or equivalent)
• Post-qualification experience, ideally within a fostering or family placement service
• Experience completing Form F and fostering-related assessments
• Knowledge of fostering legislation and guidance, including the Children Act 1989 and Fostering Services Regulations 2011
• Strong analytical, assessment, and report-writing skills
• Confidence managing sensitive situations, conflict, and challenge
• Ability to work collaboratively and contribute to service development
• Enhanced DBS clearance
