Are you an experienced and dedicated Social Worker looking for your next opportunity in Child Protection? Southampton City Council is seeking passionate professionals to join their Children’s Services, providing high-quality interventions and support to vulnerable children and families across the city.

Rate: £42/hr

About the Role

As a Child Protection Social Worker in Southampton, you’ll play a vital role in safeguarding children and promoting their well-being. Working within Southampton’s Strengthening Families Approach, which focuses on relationship-based practice and restorative interventions, you will work closely with families to reduce risks and achieve sustainable change.

Your role will include:

• Managing a caseload of children subject to Child Protection (CP) plans, Child in Need (CIN) plans, and Public Law Outline (PLO) proceedings.
• Conducting strengths-based assessments under the Southampton Safeguarding Model.
• Working collaboratively with multi-agency partners, including health, education, and police, to ensure the best outcomes for children.
• Undertaking Section 47 enquiries and contributing to strategy discussions and initial child protection conferences.
• Preparing high-quality reports for court and giving evidence when required.
• Supporting families to engage in early help interventions to prevent escalation into statutory services.
• Using the Signs of Safety framework to assess and manage risk effectively.

Requirements

To be considered for this role, you must have:
✔ A degree in Social Work and registration with Social Work England.
✔ Post-qualifying experience in Child Protection, Safeguarding, or Frontline social work.
✔ Strong knowledge of the Children Act 1989, Working Together to Safeguard Children 2018, and related legislation.
✔ Experience in Signs of Safety and relationship-based practice models.
✔ The ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high professional standards.
