Rate: £42/hr
About the Role
As a Child Protection Social Worker in Southampton, you’ll play a vital role in safeguarding children and promoting their well-being. Working within Southampton’s Strengthening Families Approach, which focuses on relationship-based practice and restorative interventions, you will work closely with families to reduce risks and achieve sustainable change.
Your role will include:
- Managing a caseload of children subject to Child Protection (CP) plans, Child in Need (CIN) plans, and Public Law Outline (PLO) proceedings.
- Conducting strengths-based assessments under the Southampton Safeguarding Model.
- Working collaboratively with multi-agency partners, including health, education, and police, to ensure the best outcomes for children.
- Undertaking Section 47 enquiries and contributing to strategy discussions and initial child protection conferences.
- Preparing high-quality reports for court and giving evidence when required.
- Supporting families to engage in early help interventions to prevent escalation into statutory services.
- Using the Signs of Safety framework to assess and manage risk effectively.
Requirements
To be considered for this role, you must have:
✔ A degree in Social Work and registration with Social Work England.
✔ Post-qualifying experience in Child Protection, Safeguarding, or Frontline social work.
✔ Strong knowledge of the Children Act 1989, Working Together to Safeguard Children 2018, and related legislation.
✔ Experience in Signs of Safety and relationship-based practice models.
✔ The ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high professional standards.
