Havering Council is seeking an experienced and confident Assistant Team Manager to join their Safeguarding Team. This is an exciting opportunity to step into a leadership role within a well-organised service where your expertise in Children in Need and Child Protection will help shape practice and outcomes for vulnerable children.

Support the Team Manager in leading a busy safeguarding team
Oversee and quality assure work with children in need and those on child protection plans
Supervise and support Social Workers through regular case discussions and reflective supervision
Lead on complex cases, strategy meetings, and court proceedings as required
Ensure practice is compliant with statutory guidance and local procedures
Promote a culture of high challenge and high support across the team
Social Work England registration
Minimum of 5 years’ post-qualified experience in Children’s Services
Strong track record in CIN and Child Protection casework
Experience supervising or mentoring other practitioners
Confident in managing risk, performance, and multi-agency work
Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to obtain one)
£41.10 per hour
