Havering Council is seeking an experienced and confident Assistant Team Manager to join their Safeguarding Team. This is an exciting opportunity to step into a leadership role within a well-organised service where your expertise in Children in Need and Child Protection will help shape practice and outcomes for vulnerable children.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the Team Manager in leading a busy safeguarding team

• Oversee and quality assure work with children in need and those on child protection plans

• Supervise and support Social Workers through regular case discussions and reflective supervision

• Lead on complex cases, strategy meetings, and court proceedings as required

• Ensure practice is compliant with statutory guidance and local procedures

• Promote a culture of high challenge and high support across the team

Candidate Requirements

• Social Work England registration

• Minimum of 5 years’ post-qualified experience in Children’s Services

• Strong track record in CIN and Child Protection casework

• Experience supervising or mentoring other practitioners

• Confident in managing risk, performance, and multi-agency work

• Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to obtain one)
