Deputy Team Manager - Assessment service

Enfield | £41.10 per hour

Enfield Council is seeking an experienced Deputy Team Manager / Advanced Practitioner to join their Assessment service, providing expert leadership and driving high-quality social work practice across the team. This is a senior practitioner role with a strong focus on risk management, practice development, and supporting workforce capability.

As an Advanced Practitioner, you will act as a technical authority within the service, using your depth of expertise to influence practice, mentor colleagues, and contribute to service-wide improvement.

In this role, you will:

• Provide expert oversight and management of complex and high-risk cases
• Support and develop social workers through mentoring, coaching, and practice guidance
• Drive practice improvement across the service through reflective supervision and quality assurance
• Contribute to process mapping, procedure development, and service strategy
• Maintain credibility through direct involvement in frontline practice where required
• Work closely with Team Managers, Assistant Team Managers, and Principal Social Workers

What You’ll Need:

• Social Work England Registration
• Social Work Qualification
• Significant post-qualifying experience in statutory children’s social care
• Proven expertise in assessment and risk management
• Experience supporting and developing social workers and students
• Strong analytical, decision-making, and leadership skills
• Ability to influence practice and contribute to service improvement at a strategic level
