About Croydon Council

Croydon is one of London’s largest and most diverse boroughs, with a strong commitment to delivering high-quality support to children, young people, and families. The council has invested heavily in Children’s Services, embedding a relationship-based model of practice that ensures children’s voices are at the heart of decision-making.

  • Collaborate with schools, health services, and community organisations to provide joined-up support
  • Ensure all practice is child-centred, with the voice of the child informing all decisions

Candidate Requirements

  • Social Work England registration
  • Post-qualified experience in children and families’ services, ideally family support, safeguarding, or early intervention
  • Strong knowledge of the Children Act 1989 and associated legislation
  • Excellent assessment, planning, and communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively within a multi-agency framework
  • Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to obtain one)

Why Work With Croydon?

  • £38.50 per hour
  • Hybrid working – 2 to 3 days a week in the office
  • Stable management and supportive leadership
  • Manageable caseloads with a focus on high-quality early help work
