Manchester City Council is seeking a dedicated Forensic Mental Health Social Worker to join their supportive and collaborative team. This role is ideal for individuals with a strong understanding of mental health, criminal justice, and risk management.
 

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct strength-based assessments using the Mental Capacity Act (MCA) and Best Interests Assessment (BIA) processes.

• Provide support to individuals admitted under the Mental Health Act (MHA), including attending ward rounds and coordinating hospital discharge pathways.

• Oversee conditional discharges through social supervision and complete thorough risk assessments.

• Collaborate with police under MAPPA (Multi-Agency Public Protection Arrangements), health professionals, and Integrated Care Boards (ICB) on joint care packages.

• Work with accommodation and support services to ensure effective community integration.

• Manage a caseload of up to 20-25 cases (reducing to around 15 cases once fully staffed).
   

Essential Requirements:

• Experience or awareness of mental health, criminal justice, and learning disabilities.

• Strong report-writing skills, including court reports within tight timeframes.

• Expertise in risk management and evidence-based practice.

• Valid driving license and access to a vehicle (Essential Car User Allowance provided).

• Social Work England registration.
