Merton Council is seeking an experienced and passionate Social Worker to join its Looked After Children's Team. Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a caseload of Looked After Children, ensuring all statutory requirements are met
  • Undertake visits, assessments, and care planning to promote safety, wellbeing, and permanency
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with children, families, and foster carers
  • Prepare detailed reports and present at reviews, panels, and court proceedings
  • Work in partnership with education, health, and other agencies to support positive outcomes

Candidate Requirements

  • Social Work England registration
  • Experience in Looked After Children, Safeguarding, or similar statutory teams
  • Strong assessment, communication, and report-writing skills
  • Ability to manage competing priorities while maintaining a child-centred focus
  • Commitment to promoting the welfare and best interests of children and young people
