Qualified Children's Social Worker - Family Support & Safeguarding

Family Support & Safeguarding | Mansfield-Based | Full-Time

Nottinghamshire County Council is looking for an experienced and resilient Children’s Social Worker to join their Family Support and Safeguarding Team in Mansfield. This full-time agency role focuses on Child in Need and Child Protection cases, with additional involvement in supervision orders, harmful sexual behaviour, and exploitation.

Although separate teams manage court proceedings and looked-after children, you’ll complete initial court paperwork and hold cases through to the first LAC review. You'll be part of a supportive, multi-agency team delivering frontline safeguarding for children and families across the county.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage a caseload of CIN, CP, and safeguarding cases

• Complete child and parenting assessments and social work evidence templates

• Write clear, concise reports and assessments for legal and multi-agency processes

• Work collaboratively with partner agencies to ensure child safety

• Provide support and intervention for children at risk of harm

• Contribute to team meetings and multi-agency planning

Practice Model:
This is a high-performing team with clear practice standards and focused support. The role demands strong safeguarding expertise, court readiness, and a commitment to high-quality, child-centred practice.

Essential Requirements:

• Qualified Social Worker registered with Social Work England

• Minimum of 3 years’ full-time, permanent Local Authority experience (as per national agency guidelines – non-negotiable)

• Strong background in child protection, CIN, and safeguarding

• Skilled in writing child and parenting assessments and evidence templates

• Able to manage complex cases with minimal supervision

• Confident in multi-agency work and effective communication
