Role Overview:
Barnsley Council is seeking a Senior Social Worker to join the Children’s Integrated Front Door service on a locum basis to cover maternity leave. This is a pivotal role where you will use your expertise in screening, safeguarding, and risk assessment to ensure children receive the right help at the right time.

Key Responsibilities:

• Work within a busy MASH/Screening environment, managing referrals at pace
• Undertake risk assessments and develop safety plans for children and families
• Analyse and interpret information from multiple sources to inform decisions and service planning
• Apply thresholds consistently to ensure appropriate support and safeguarding measures
• Contribute to the delivery of high-quality practice within the Signs of Safety framework
• Utilise Mosaic case management system to maintain accurate and timely records

Requirements:

• Qualified Social Worker with Social Work England registration
• Substantial experience within a MASH or Screening Team
• Strong understanding of thresholds, safeguarding practice, and child protection legislation
• Experience of Signs of Safety and Mosaic preferred
• Excellent analytical, decision-making, and communication skills
• Ability to work effectively at pace within a multi-agency setting

Working Arrangements:

• Hybrid model: 3 days per week office-based, 2 days WFH
• Office base within a police building – successful candidates must consent to vetting checks by South Yorkshire Police
• WFH arrangements in place until vetting clearance is confirmed

Contract Details:

• Locum maternity cover
• Full-time position
• Pay up to £35 per hour
