Children’s Social Worker – Safeguarding & Care Planning
Court Work Experience Essential | Hybrid Working | Oldham

Oldham Council is seeking experienced Children’s Social Workers to join their Safeguarding and Care Planning Teams. You will work in the Fieldwork Area, with a minimum of 3 days per week in the office, delivering services that safeguard and promote the welfare of children and young people at different stages of their journey.

We are particularly looking for candidates with strong court work and child protection experience to work on long-term safeguarding and care proceedings cases.

Role Overview:
You’ll be part of an experienced and supportive team committed to systemic practice, building strong relationships with children and families, and understanding family dynamics. You will be encouraged to work reflectively, continuously learning and improving your practice.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage a varied caseload of safeguarding and care proceedings work
  • Undertake high-quality assessments and develop robust care plans
  • Prepare and present evidence for court proceedings
  • Work in partnership with children, families, and multi-agency partners
  • Apply systemic and relationship-based practice to achieve positive outcomes

Essential Requirements:

  • Qualified Social Worker registered with Social Work England
  • Proven experience in court work and child protection
  • Strong knowledge of safeguarding legislation and statutory guidance
  • Ability to manage complex cases and work effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Commitment to reflective practice and continuous professional development
