Senior Social Worker – Children’s Integrated Front Door (Part-Time)
Maternity Cover | Hybrid Working | Police HQ, Barnsley

Barnsley Council is seeking an experienced Senior Social Worker to join their Children’s Integrated Front Door on a part-time basis (18.5 hours per week) to cover maternity leave.

This is a fast-paced role, ideal for someone with prior experience in MASH or Screening teams. You’ll be responsible for assessing risk, analysing multi-agency information, and ensuring children receive timely and appropriate intervention. A clear understanding of thresholds and confident use of risk and safety planning tools is essential.

Key Responsibilities:

• Triaging referrals and assessing risk
• Completing safety plans and risk assessments
• Analysing multi-agency information to inform thresholds
• Making timely and appropriate decisions for intervention
• Supporting effective safeguarding through a Signs of Safety framework
• Contributing to team discussions and planning

Essential Requirements:

• Qualified Social Worker registered with Social Work England
• Experience working in a MASH or Front Door service
• Strong analytical, communication and assessment skills
• Familiarity with Mosaic and the Signs of Safety model (preferred)
• Ability to work in a high-pressure environment and make sound decisions quickly

Working Pattern & Location:

• Week 1: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday
• Week 2: Monday, Tuesday
• Hybrid working: 2 days in office during 3-day week; 1 day during 2-day week
• Based at South Yorkshire Police HQ in Barnsley
• Work-from-home arrangements in place until vetting is completed
• Candidates must consent to vetting checks by South Yorkshire Police
