Children’s Social Worker – Safeguarding and Support Team
Child in Need | Child Protection | Pre-Proceedings | Court Work

Tameside Council is seeking an experienced Children’s Social Worker to join their busy Safeguarding and Support Team. This service supports children and families through Child in Need, Child Protection, pre-proceedings and Court processes.

Role Overview:
You will:

• Undertake assessments of children in need, including those in need of protection and cared-for children
• Coordinate service provision to meet identified needs
• Carry out statutory visits, reviews and direct work with children and families
• Engage families and carers in meaningful relationships to promote positive outcomes
• Support parents and carers in their role, ensuring children’s safety and wellbeing
• Prepare and present reports for Panels, Court and other professional forums
• Work collaboratively with colleagues and partner agencies in multi-agency safeguarding
• Maintain accurate, up-to-date case records in line with statutory requirements
• Participate in supervision, training and CPD opportunities to maintain Social Work England registration

Working Arrangements:

• Office-based role, with some flexibility for home working (by agreement with the Team Manager)
• Full-time, 5 days per week preferred

What We’re Looking For:

• Qualified Social Worker registered with Social Work England
• Strong post-qualified experience in Child in Need and Child Protection
• Confident in managing pre-proceedings and Court work
• Excellent assessment, communication and relationship-based practice skills
• Commitment to safeguarding children and promoting positive outcomes

Contract Details:

• Locum role
• Pay up to £39 per hour
• Based in Tameside
