Senior Social Worker – Adults Locality Team – London

Location: London Borough of Sutton
Pay/Salary: Up to £36.00 per hour (Umbrella)
Office Working: Hybrid – 2 days in the office, 3 days remote
Contract: Locum | 36 hours per week

We are currently working with the London Borough of Sutton to find an experienced Senior Social Worker for their Adults Locality Team. This is an excellent opportunity to join a busy Adult Social Care service, managing a complex community caseload while delivering high-quality, strengths-based practice under the Care Act 2014.

You'll work with adults presenting with complex care and support needs, including safeguarding, transitions, mental capacity and placement breakdown cases. Working largely autonomously, you'll complete assessments, manage risk and work closely with Health, CHC, CMHT, Housing and care providers to achieve positive outcomes and promote independence.

Duties

• Managing a complex caseload of adults with care and support needs.
• Completing Care Act assessments, carers assessments, reviews and support planning.
• Leading complex Section 42 safeguarding enquiries and multi-agency safeguarding meetings.
• Undertaking Mental Capacity Assessments and leading Best Interests decision-making.
• Managing complex transitions from Children's to Adult Social Care.
• Managing high-risk situations, placement breakdowns and crisis interventions.
• Working closely with ICB, CHC, CMHT, Housing, Brokerage and care providers.
• Completing CHC checklists and contributing to Decision Support Tool assessments and funding processes.
• Preparing high-quality reports, care plans and panel applications.
• Participating in the team's Duty rota, responding to urgent referrals and crisis situations.
• Providing professional guidance and peer support to less experienced staff, students and non-qualified workers.
• Contributing to audits, service improvement and ongoing team development.

What you need

• Social Work Qualification.
• Social Work England registration.
• Enhanced DBS (provided by us).
• Significant experience within statutory Adult Social Work.
• Strong knowledge of the Care Act 2014, Mental Capacity Act 2005 and Adult Safeguarding.
• Experience managing complex Section 42 safeguarding enquiries.
• Confidence completing complex Mental Capacity Assessments and Best Interests work.
• Strong risk assessment and crisis-management experience.
• Experience working effectively with Health, CHC and other multi-agency partners.
• Ability to independently manage a complex community caseload.
• Experience supporting or mentoring less experienced practitioners.
