About the Role:

The London Borough of Enfield is seeking an experienced and highly skilled Senior Social Worker to join their Looked After Children Team. Based in the heart of Enfield at the newly refurbished Thomas Hardy House, this role offers an excellent opportunity for an accomplished social worker to make a meaningful impact on the lives of looked after children. If you have extensive court experience and a deep commitment to safeguarding vulnerable children, this position is ideal for you.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide high-quality assessment and social work services to children and carers, in line with statutory duties and council policies.
• Utilize both council and independent resources effectively, ensuring that interventions are informed by the latest research.
• Participate in the duty team/rota, managing contacts, referrals, Section 47 enquiries, and child and family assessments.
• Ensure timely progression of cases, with a focus on safeguarding the most vulnerable children.
• Undertake Care Proceedings and represent the Local Authority in court; extensive court experience is required.
• Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive and effective service delivery.

Requirements:

• A recognised Social Work qualification (Degree/Diploma).
• Current registration with Social Work England.
• Proven experience as a Senior Social Worker, particularly within a Looked After Children Team.
• Extensive experience in Care Proceedings and representing local authorities in court.
• Strong understanding of legislation, council policy, and best practices in children’s social work.
• Excellent assessment, planning, and decision-making skills.
• Ability to work effectively within a team and manage a complex caseload.
