Lambeth | Locum | £39.04 per hour | Hybrid Working

Lambeth Council is seeking an experienced Senior Social Worker to join their Safeguarding Team. This is a frontline role focused on protecting children, managing complex risk, and supporting families through effective statutory interventions and relationship-based practice.

You will manage a complex caseload while supporting less experienced colleagues and contributing to positive outcomes for children and families across the borough.

In this role, you will:

  • Manage a complex caseload of Child in Need and Child Protection cases
  • Undertake Section 47 enquiries and safeguarding assessments
  • Develop and review outcome-focused care plans
  • Lead and participate in strategy discussions, conferences, and core group meetings
  • Work closely with multi-agency partners to safeguard children
  • Support and mentor less experienced Social Workers
  • Prepare high-quality reports and maintain accurate case recordings

What You’ll Need:

  • Social Work England Registration
  • Social Work Qualification
  • At least 3 years’ post-qualified experience in children’s social care
  • Strong experience within safeguarding teams (CIN/CP)
  • Confidence managing complex and high-risk cases
  • Ability to support and mentor colleagues
  • Excellent assessment, analytical, and communication skills
