Senior Social Worker – Family Safeguarding
Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole Council (BCP) | Locum | Up to £48 per hour
Hybrid – 3 Days in the Office | Weekly Accommodation Allowance Available

BCP Council is looking for a skilled Senior Social Worker to join their Family Safeguarding Team on a locum basis. With a generous rate and weekly accommodation allowance, this is a great opportunity for experienced practitioners looking for a well-supported team and meaningful work.

About the Role:

You will work within a multi-disciplinary team, supporting families to achieve better outcomes and reduce risk to children.

Key responsibilities:

• Manage complex caseloads and support team decision-making
• Complete assessments, child protection enquiries, and care planning
• Lead on conferences, legal planning, and court reports
• Offer guidance to less experienced staff where needed
• Apply Signs of Safety in all casework
• Build strong relationships with children and families

Practice Model:

BCP uses the Signs of Safety approach — a strength-based, collaborative model that puts families at the heart of safeguarding and promotes long-term change through meaningful engagement.

Requirements:

• Social Work England registration
• Experience in safeguarding or child protection
• Skilled in risk assessment and legal frameworks
• Confident in managing complex cases and reports
• Commitment to evidence-based, child-centred practice
