Rate: £39.04 per hour
Contract: Locum, Full-Time
Start Date: ASAP
Office: 2–3 days per week (hybrid working)

Lambeth are looking for a strong, experienced Senior Social Worker to join their Assessment Team. This is frontline work, plain and simple — quick turnaround cases, robust multi-agency working, and a need for confident, autonomous practice. You’ll be picking up referrals directly from MASH and carrying the case through assessment, strategy discussions, and any required Section 47 enquiries. Lambeth’s model is focused on early intervention, partnership working, and getting the right outcomes fast.

Key Responsibilities

• Complete S17 and S47 assessments from referral to closure or transfer
• Lead strategy discussions, joint visits, and initial child protection investigations
• Engage directly with children and families to gather clear, evidence-based insights
• Work closely with police, schools, health, and early help services
• Present cases at CP conferences and legal planning meetings when needed
• Write timely, analytical assessments and keep case notes up to date
• Support less experienced staff and contribute to team learning

What They’re Looking For

• Social Work England registration
• Extensive experience in frontline Assessment or Duty
• Confident decision-maker with a good grasp of thresholds
• Able to work autonomously and manage fast-paced caseloads
• Comfortable being in the office 2–3 days per week
