Senior Social Worker – Family Assessment Team
London Borough of Croydon | Permanent | £48,000 – £50,000 per annum

London Borough of Croydon is seeking an experienced Senior Social Worker to join their Family Assessment Team on a permanent basis. About the Role:
You will work as part of Croydon's Family Assessment Service, managing complex cases and supporting families through initial assessment and safeguarding processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage complex caseloads across child in need, child protection, and court proceedings.
  • Complete Child and Family Assessments, Section 47 enquiries, and formulate care plans.
  • Lead case conferences, legal planning meetings, and court work.
  • Provide guidance and support to less experienced team members.
  • Use the Signs of Safety model in assessments and care planning.
  • Build strong relationships with children, families, and multi-agency partners.

Practice Model:
Croydon Council uses the Signs of Safety practice framework as of 2025, focusing on strength-based, child-centred interventions. This approach encourages meaningful engagement with families, promoting safety and resilience through collaborative working.

Requirements:

  • Social Work England registration
  • Proven experience in safeguarding or child protection
  • Skilled in assessments, risk management, and court work
  • Strong understanding of legal frameworks and multi-agency practice
  • Sponsorship considered for candidates with UK statutory social work experience
