Senior Social Worker - Child Protection

Croydon | Locum | £39.04 per hour | Hybrid Working

Croydon Council is seeking an experienced Senior Social Worker to join their Child in Need / Child Protection Team. This is a key role for a confident practitioner who can manage complex safeguarding cases, support less experienced colleagues, and contribute to strong frontline practice.

You will hold a varied caseload of children in need and child protection cases, ensuring timely assessments, robust planning, and positive outcomes for children and families.

In this role, you will:

• Manage a complex CIN and CP caseload
• Undertake comprehensive assessments and risk analysis
• Lead on strategy discussions and multi-agency safeguarding meetings
• Develop and review child protection and child in need plans
• Prepare high-quality reports and documentation to a high standard
• Provide informal mentoring and support to less experienced social workers
• Maintain accurate, timely and analytical case recordings

What You’ll Need:

• Social Work England Registration
• Social Work Qualification
• At least 3 years’ post-qualified experience in children’s social care
• Strong experience within Child in Need and Child Protection teams
• Excellent assessment, analysis and risk management skills
• Ability to work confidently in a fast-paced statutory environment
