Job Overview:
Are you an experienced Social Worker with a passion for supporting children with disabilities and their families? We are seeking a Senior Social Worker to join our Children with Disabilities (CWD) Team. In this role, you will play a crucial part in addressing the backlog of assessments, ensuring that the needs of children with disabilities and their families are thoroughly assessed and met.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assessment Writing: Conduct high-quality assessments for children with disabilities, ensuring that their needs and those of their families are fully understood and documented.
- Backlog Management: Focus on reducing the backlog of assessments that need to be undertaken, prioritizing cases based on urgency and need.
- Family Support: Work closely with families to provide support and guidance, understanding the unique challenges they face and advocating on behalf of the child.
- Carer's Assessments: Complete carer’s assessments to ensure that the needs of the caregivers are also addressed, offering them the support they require.
- Advocacy: Act as a strong advocate for children with disabilities, ensuring their rights and best interests are upheld in all decision-making processes.
- Caseload Management: Manage a caseload of 10-14 cases, focusing on assessments and support. Any Child in Need (CIN) or Child Protection (CP) cases that arise will be transferred to the safeguarding team.
- Multi-Agency Collaboration: Work collaboratively with other professionals and agencies to coordinate comprehensive care and support for children with disabilities.
Requirements:
- Social Work England (SWE) registration is essential.
- Proven experience working with children with disabilities and their families.
- Strong assessment, planning, and case management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Understanding of the unique challenges faced by families with children with disabilities.
- Commitment to advocating for the needs and rights of children with disabilities.
