Senior Social Worker – Family Safeguarding Team

Swindon | Locum | £42 per hour | Hybrid Working

Swindon Borough Council is seeking an experienced Senior Social Worker to join their Family Safeguarding Service. This is a dynamic role working within a pod-based model, supporting children and families through a strengths-based and multi-disciplinary approach to achieve sustainable change.

You will work alongside adult practitioners within small, supportive pods to deliver high-quality assessments, interventions, and care planning for children and families.

In this role, you will:

• Manage a complex caseload within the Family Safeguarding model
• Undertake comprehensive assessments, including parenting assessments
• Progress Child in Need, Child Protection, and court work cases
• Develop and implement outcome-focused care plans
• Work closely with adult practitioners to support whole-family change
• Prepare high-quality reports for court and statutory meetings
• Support permanency planning, including adoption where appropriate
• Provide guidance and support to less experienced social workers

What You’ll Need:

• Social Work England Registration
• Social Work Qualification
• At least 3 years’ post-qualified experience in a permanent statutory setting
• Strong experience within safeguarding and court work
• Ability to manage complex cases and risk effectively
• Must be a car driver with access to a vehicle
• Ability to work 3 days per week in the office

• £100 weekly travel/accommodation allowance (subject to criteria)
