Senior Social Worker – Safeguarding – Lambeth Council

  • £39.04 per hour
  • Hybrid working – 2 to 3 days a week in the office
  • Children in Need & Child Protection focus

Lambeth Council is looking for an experienced Senior Social Worker to join their Safeguarding Service. This role is an excellent opportunity for a skilled practitioner to contribute to high-quality safeguarding practice, ensuring children and families receive the right support at the right time.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a caseload of children in need and child protection cases
  • Undertake thorough assessments and create robust care plans in line with statutory requirements
  • Undertake Section 47 enquiries and contribute to child protection conferences
  • Work directly with children, young people, and families to promote safety and wellbeing
  • Prepare and present reports for legal proceedings, case reviews, and multi-agency meetings
  • Provide mentoring and support to less experienced colleagues, promoting best practice

Candidate Requirements

  • Social Work England registration
  • Substantial post-qualified experience in safeguarding, CIN, and child protection work
  • Sound knowledge of the Children Act 1989 and related legislation
  • Strong assessment, report-writing, and communication skills
  • Experience of working in a multi-agency environment
  • Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to obtain one)
