Senior Social Worker – Safeguarding – Lambeth Council

£39.04 per hour
Hybrid working – 2 to 3 days a week in the office

Lambeth Council is looking for an experienced Senior Social Worker to join their Safeguarding Service. This role is an excellent opportunity for a skilled practitioner to contribute to high-quality safeguarding practice, ensuring children and families receive the right support at the right time.

Key Responsibilities

Manage a caseload of children in need and child protection cases
Undertake thorough assessments and create robust care plans in line with statutory requirements
Undertake Section 47 enquiries and contribute to child protection conferences
Work directly with children, young people, and families to promote safety and wellbeing
Prepare and present reports for legal proceedings, case reviews, and multi-agency meetings
Provide mentoring and support to less experienced colleagues, promoting best practice

Candidate Requirements

Social Work England registration
Substantial post-qualified experience in safeguarding, CIN, and child protection work
Sound knowledge of the Children Act 1989 and related legislation
Strong assessment, report-writing, and communication skills
Experience of working in a multi-agency environment
Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to obtain one)
