We are looking for an experienced and compassionate Safeguarding Service Manager to lead Somerset Council’s Safeguarding Service. This is a Somerset-wide role, offering hybrid working with a requirement to be office-based at least two days per week. The position offers a competitive day rate of up to £475 and the opportunity to make a real impact on safeguarding practice across the region.

The Role:

As the Safeguarding Service Manager, you will provide high-quality leadership and operational management, ensuring the service is efficient, effective, and legally compliant. Your work will align with organisational governance processes and statutory guidance, ensuring defensible decision-making is at the heart of all safeguarding activity. You will also be instrumental in fostering a culture of learning, reflection, and professional challenge within the team.

What We’re Looking For:

• A registered professional and experienced manager with a proven track record in safeguarding.
• Strong legal literacy, with the ability to apply relevant legislation and statutory responsibilities effectively.
• The ability to build and maintain partnerships with key agencies and contribute to the Somerset Safeguarding Adults Board.
• A leader who can challenge, guide, and inspire, ensuring best practices are upheld.
• A proactive, creative thinker who advocates for inclusion, equity, and high standards in safeguarding practice.
