Team Manager – Family Support & Child Protection – Bexley

Location: London Borough of Bexley
Pay Rate: Up to £44.77 per hour (Umbrella)
Contract: Locum

We are currently working with the London Borough of Bexley to recruit an experienced Team Manager for their Family Support & Child Protection Team within Children's Services.

This is a frontline management role leading a team working with children and families requiring ongoing statutory intervention. You'll provide strong operational leadership, oversight of complex safeguarding work and high-quality supervision, ensuring children receive timely and effective support while maintaining consistently high standards of Social Work practice.

Duties

• Managing and providing leadership to a team of qualified Social Workers.
• Providing regular supervision, case direction and professional support.
• Overseeing complex Child in Need and Child Protection cases.
• Providing management oversight of risk, safeguarding and key decisions.
• Ensuring assessments, plans and interventions are completed to a high standard.
• Monitoring workloads, performance and statutory timescales across the team.
• Quality assuring Social Work practice, assessments and case recording.
• Supporting practitioners with complex cases and professional decision-making.
• Promoting effective multi-agency working with partner services.
• Driving improvements in practice and outcomes for children and families.
• Supporting staff development, retention and a positive team culture.

What you need

• Social Work Qualification.
• Social Work England registration.
• Enhanced DBS (provided by us).
• Significant post-qualifying experience within Children's Social Care.
• Previous Team Manager experience within frontline Children's Services.
• Strong experience across Family Support, Child in Need and Child Protection.
• Excellent knowledge of safeguarding legislation and statutory guidance.
• Strong supervision, quality assurance and performance management skills.
• Confidence overseeing complex and high-risk safeguarding cases.
• Ability to provide clear leadership and professional challenge.
