Senior Social Worker – 16+ Young People’s Service – Croydon Council

£39.04 per hour | Hybrid Working | 3 Days in the Office

Are you an experienced Social Worker looking to make a lasting impact within a dedicated 16+ Young People’s Service? We are currently recruiting for an experienced Senior Social Worker to join Croydon Council, supporting adolescents and young people as they transition toward independence and adulthood.

This is an excellent opportunity for a confident practitioner who thrives when working with complex adolescents, contextual safeguarding, exploitation risks, and transition planning. You will play a vital role in ensuring young people receive effective support, stability, and positive outcomes during a critical stage of their lives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a caseload of young people aged 16+ with varying levels of complexity
  • Complete assessments, pathway plans, risk assessments, and statutory visits
  • Support young people transitioning to independence and adulthood
  • Work closely with housing, education, health, youth justice, and partner agencies
  • Safeguard vulnerable adolescents at risk of exploitation, homelessness, or offending
  • Attend strategy meetings, reviews, and court proceedings where required
  • Provide high-quality recording and ensure compliance with statutory requirements
  • Support and mentor less experienced staff where appropriate

Candidate Requirements

  • Social Work England registration
  • Degree in Social Work or equivalent qualification
  • Significant post-qualified experience within Children’s Services
  • Experience working with adolescents, care leavers, or 16+ services
  • Strong safeguarding and risk assessment experience
  • Ability to manage complex caseloads effectively
  • Excellent communication and multi-agency working skills
