Plymouth Council is offering an excellent opportunity for an experienced Childrens Social Worker to join their Child Protection Team, with a highly competitive rate of up to £45 per hour alongside a £150 weekly accommodation allowance.

This is a frontline Child Protection position suited to confident social workers with solid safeguarding experience and a strong background in court and care proceedings.

The Role
You will join Plymouth Council’s Child Protection Team, managing complex safeguarding cases involving children subject to Child Protection Plans, Child in Need Plans, and care proceedings. The role requires strong assessment skills, confident decision-making, and the ability to work effectively within court processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Managing a caseload within a Child Protection Team
  • Completing Child and Family Assessments
  • Undertaking Section 47 investigations
  • Managing Child Protection and Child in Need plans
  • Preparing court reports and statements
  • Attending legal meetings and court hearings
  • Working closely with partner agencies to safeguard children
  • Maintaining accurate and up-to-date case recording

Essential Requirements

  • Social Work England registration
  • Previous experience within Childrens Services
  • Strong Child Protection experience
  • Essential experience with court work and care proceedings
  • Ability to work on site a minimum of 3 days per week
