Rate: Up to £38 per hour

Working Pattern: Hybrid (3 days in-office)

Sheldon Phillips is looking for an experienced Social Worker to join the Children’s Assessment Team in North Somerset on a locum basis. This is a hybrid role with 3 days per week in the office, offering the opportunity to work in a fast-paced, supportive frontline service.

The Assessment Team is responsible for completing timely assessments under Section 17 and Section 47 of the Children Act, ensuring children's safety and wellbeing through clear, evidence-based decision-making. This role is ideal for confident, skilled practitioners who are comfortable working in a dynamic, assessment-driven environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Undertake high-quality assessments of children and families referred to the service.

• Make clear, analytical decisions based on risk and need.

• Liaise effectively with partner agencies to coordinate appropriate interventions.

• Write clear, evidence-based reports for strategy discussions, legal planning meetings, and other forums.

• Work within statutory timeframes and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement.

Requirements:

• Qualified Social Worker with Social Work England registration.

• Minimum 3 years post-qualified experience in statutory children’s social work.

• Proven expertise in completing assessments under S17 and S47.

• Strong analytical, report-writing, and decision-making skills.

• Enhanced DBS check and full right to work in the UK.
