Locum Social Worker – Safeguarding Team

Camden Council is looking for an experienced Social Worker to join its Safeguarding Team on a locum basis. This role is ideal for a confident practitioner who thrives in frontline child protection work and is happy to attend the office 2–3 days per week as part of a balanced hybrid model.

Key Responsibilities

• Managing a caseload of children subject to Child Protection Plans and Children in Need
• Undertaking statutory safeguarding assessments and Section 47 enquiries
• Preparing high-quality reports for ICPCs, core groups, and court proceedings
• Working closely with families to reduce risk and promote positive outcomes
• Attending strategy meetings and multi-agency forums
• Maintaining accurate and timely case recording in line with statutory requirements

Candidate Requirements

• Qualified Social Worker with Social Work England registration
• Recent experience within a Safeguarding / Child Protection team
• Strong understanding of legislation, policy, and court work
• Ability to work effectively within a busy frontline environment

• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain)
