Children in Care Social Worker
Rate: £38.00 per hour | Locum Opportunity | Flexible/Hybrid Working

Milton Keynes Council is seeking a dedicated and experienced Social Worker to join our Children in Care service on a locum basis. This is a rewarding opportunity to work with children and young people who are in care, ensuring their needs are met and that they are supported to achieve positive outcomes.

About the Role:
As a Social Worker within the Children in Care team, you will hold a caseload of looked after children and be responsible for ensuring their voices are heard, their placements are stable, and their care plans are progressed effectively. You’ll be working collaboratively with families, carers, education professionals and other key partners to support each child’s journey.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage a varied caseload of looked after children
• Undertake statutory visits and care planning reviews
• Work closely with IROs, carers, schools and other agencies
• Ensure timely progression of care plans, including pathway planning
• Prepare reports for court and attend proceedings where necessary

About You:

• Qualified Social Worker with current Social Work England registration
• Experience working within a Children in Care / Looked After Children team
• Strong understanding of care planning, safeguarding, and relevant legislation
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
