Social Worker – Children in Care

  • £37.52 per hour
  • Hybrid working – only 1 day a week in the office
  • Maximum caseload of 16

We are seeking an experienced social worker to join the Children in Care Team. This is a fantastic opportunity to work in a supportive and well-structured service that prioritises manageable caseloads, flexible hybrid working, and the well-being of both staff and children.

The Children in Care Team is dedicated to providing high-quality, consistent support for children and young people who are looked after. With a maximum caseload capped at 16, the service ensures social workers can build strong, lasting relationships with children and families, while delivering effective care plans and meaningful interventions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Hold and manage a caseload of up to 16 children in care
  • Undertake statutory visits, assessments, and care planning
  • Develop and review care plans, ensuring they reflect the child’s needs and aspirations
  • Prepare high-quality reports for reviews, permanency planning, and court proceedings
  • Work closely with foster carers, schools, health services, and other agencies
  • Promote stability, aspiration, and positive long-term outcomes for children in care

Candidate Requirements

  • Social Work England registration
  • Substantial post-qualified experience in children’s services, ideally LAC/CIC
  • Strong understanding of relevant legislation, including the Children Act 1989
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to build effective relationships with children, families, and professionals
  • Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to complete one)
