Social Worker - Children in Care

Milton Keynes | Locum | £38 per hour (Umbrella) | Hybrid Working (3 days in office)

Milton Keynes Council is seeking an experienced Social Worker to join their Children in Care Team. This is a hybrid role, with a minimum expectation of 3 days per week in the office, based at Civic Offices, Saxon Gate East, Milton Keynes, MK9 3EJ.

You will be responsible for managing a Children in Care caseload, undertaking statutory visits, care planning, reviews, and permanency planning. The role requires recent and proven experience within Adoption and Children in Care, ensuring children receive consistent, high-quality support that promotes stability and positive long-term outcomes.

In this role, you’ll work closely with children, carers, adopters, and partner agencies, applying a child-focused and strengths-based approach in line with statutory guidance and local authority procedures.

What You’ll Need:

• Social Work England Registration
• Recognised Social Work Qualification
• Adoption and Children in Care experience within the last 5 years (essential)
• Strong experience managing a Children in Care caseload
• Sound knowledge of permanency planning, care planning, and statutory visiting
• Ability to work effectively within a hybrid model, attending the office at least 3 days per week
• Strong assessment, report-writing, and relationship-building skills
