Social Worker – Children’s Social Work Team (CSWT) – Isle of Sheppey & Ramsgate, Kent

Rate: Up to £38 per hour
Location: Isle of Sheppey or Ramsgate, Kent

Sheldon Phillips is seeking two experienced Social Workers to join Kent County Council’s Children’s Social Work Team (CSWT) on a locum basis. These roles are based in Isle of Sheppey and Ramsgate, offering a hybrid working model to support flexibility.

The CSWT is a frontline safeguarding service that responds to referrals made to Children’s Social Services. Social Workers in the team carry out assessments, manage child protection and child in need plans, and ensure timely interventions to safeguard vulnerable children and young people.

Key Responsibilities:

• Undertake assessments and manage a caseload of children and families in need of protection or support.

• Develop and implement care plans in line with statutory responsibilities.

• Work in partnership with families and multi-agency professionals to promote positive outcomes.

• Attend court when required and prepare high-quality reports and documentation.

• Contribute to team meetings and reflective practice sessions.

Requirements:

• Qualified Social Worker with Social Work England registration.

• Solid post-qualifying experience in a statutory children’s safeguarding setting.

• Strong understanding of the Children Act 1989 and associated safeguarding frameworks.

• Effective communication, assessment, and risk management skills.

• Enhanced DBS check and full right to work in the UK.
