Swindon Borough Council’s Safeguarding Team is seeking experienced and dedicated Social Workers to join their long-term safeguarding service. This is an opportunity to take on meaningful work with children and families across Child in Need, Child Protection, PLO and Court proceedings – ensuring children are kept safe and achieving the best possible outcomes.
The Role
As a Social Worker in Swindon’s Safeguarding Team, you will:
Hold a mixed caseload across Child in Need, Child Protection, and Court/PLO cases.
Undertake thorough assessments to identify risks and strengths within families.
Develop, implement, and review safeguarding plans tailored to children’s needs.
Prepare high-quality evidence and reports for child protection conferences and court.
Work collaboratively with families, carers, and multi-agency partners to support sustainable change.
Maintain strong professional oversight and accurate case records in line with statutory responsibilities.
About You
We are seeking someone who:
Holds a recognised Social Work qualification and is registered with Social Work England.
Has proven experience in safeguarding, court work, and long-term case management.
Brings strong assessment, analytical, and report-writing skills.
Thrives in a fast-paced environment and can make confident, child-centred decisions under pressure.
Values partnership working and can engage effectively with families and professionals alike.
