Derbyshire County Council | Locum | Social Worker – Children with Disabilities
Pay up to £35 per hour | Chesterfield & High Peak Teams

Role Overview:
Derbyshire County Council is seeking an experienced Children with Disabilities Social Worker to join their team. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to meaningful work within a supportive environment, focusing on some of the county’s most vulnerable children and young people.

You will be based within the Chesterfield/High Peak teams, carrying a caseload of complex cases and working directly with children, young people, and families to promote their wellbeing and safeguard their rights.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage a varied and complex caseload within the Children with Disabilities Service.
• Undertake assessments, care planning, and reviews in line with statutory requirements.
• Engage in direct work with children, young people, and families to promote independence and positive outcomes.
• Demonstrate knowledge and application of child care law, including experience of legal processes and court work.
• Contribute to safeguarding investigations and ensure effective risk management.
• Work collaboratively with partner agencies to provide holistic support.

Requirements:

• Qualified Social Worker with Social 
• Minimum of 3 year's post-qualification experience in children’s services
• Knowledge and experience of legal processes and court work
• Previous experience working with children with disabilities is highly desirable
• Ability to work independently while contributing to a supportive team culture

Contract Details:

• Locum role
• Pay up to £35 per hour
• Based in Chesterfield/High Peak
