The Role

Dudley Council is seeking an experienced Social Worker to join its MASH service on a locum basis. This role is ideal for a confident practitioner with strong analytical skills who can make timely, proportionate safeguarding decisions in a high-volume environment.

You will be responsible for screening and triaging referrals, assessing risk, and determining appropriate thresholds and outcomes in line with statutory guidance, ensuring children receive the right support at the right time.

Key Responsibilities

• Screen, triage, and assess incoming referrals within the MASH
• Analyse multi-agency information to identify risk and protective factors
• Make timely threshold decisions, including progression to assessment, early help, or signposting
• Record clear, analytical decision-making on the case management system
• Liaise closely with partner agencies to support effective information sharing
• Contribute to safeguarding strategy discussions where required
• Ensure all work is completed in line with statutory guidance and local procedures

Candidate Requirements

• Qualified Social Worker with Social Work England registration
• Proven experience within MASH, Duty, or Front Door services
• Strong understanding of safeguarding thresholds and risk assessment
• Excellent analytical and decision-making skills
• Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment
• Confident working within a multi-agency setting
