About the Role

Bath and North East Somerset Council are seeking an experienced Child Protection Social Worker to join their Family Support Team. This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled social worker to contribute to child protection and family support work within a dynamic and supportive team.

As a social worker in the Family Support Team, you will be responsible for managing complex child protection cases, including court work, child protection assessments, and multi-agency collaboration. You will be required to work closely with children and families, ensuring that the safety and well-being of children are prioritised, while delivering the highest standard of professional practice.

Key Responsibilities

• Undertake child protection assessments and contribute to care planning.
• Prepare and present evidence in court proceedings as required.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues across the Council, as well as external agencies, to support children and families.
• Provide direct support and guidance to families, focusing on improving outcomes for children.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date records in line with safeguarding protocols.
• Ensure compliance with relevant legislation and statutory guidelines.

Essential Criteria:

• Experience in child protection and court work.
• Ability to manage complex cases and make decisions in challenging circumstances.
• Excellent communication and report writing skills.
• Knowledge of relevant legislation and safeguarding practices.
• Ability to work effectively within a multi-disciplinary team.
• Access to a car for work-related travel.
• You must hold a Social Work qualification and be registered with Social Work England.
