Social Worker – Locality Team 

Location: London Borough of Sutton
Pay/Salary: £42,060 - £50,085 per annum (dependent on skills and experience)
Office Working: Hybrid
Contract: Permanent

We are currently working with the London Borough of Sutton to find an experienced Social Worker for their Locality Team. This is an excellent opportunity to join a supportive frontline service where you’ll work with children and families requiring ongoing statutory intervention, delivering high-quality assessments and relationship-based social work that achieves positive, lasting outcomes.

Working as part of a collaborative team, you’ll manage a varied caseload of Child in Need, Child Protection, and Public Law work, building strong relationships with children, families, and partner agencies while ensuring safeguarding remains at the heart of your practice. Sutton promotes strengths-based practice, reflective supervision, and continuous professional development, providing an excellent environment for social workers to develop their careers.

Duties

  • Managing a varied caseload of Child in Need, Child Protection, and Public Law cases.
  • Completing high-quality assessments and developing child-centred plans to improve outcomes.
  • Building strong, effective relationships with children, young people, and their families.
  • Undertaking direct work with children, ensuring their voice is central to assessment and planning.
  • Working collaboratively with partner agencies to safeguard children and promote positive change.
  • Preparing high-quality reports for conferences, reviews, and court where required.
  • Maintaining accurate and timely case recordings in line with statutory guidance.
  • Applying strengths-based and systemic approaches to social work practice.
  • Contributing to a culture of continuous learning, reflective practice, and service improvement.

 

What you need

  • Social Work Qualification.
  • Social Work England registration.
  • Enhanced DBS (provided by us).
  • Experience working within a Locality, Safeguarding, or Child Protection Team.
  • Strong knowledge of statutory children’s social care, safeguarding legislation, and assessment frameworks.
  • Excellent assessment, communication, and report-writing skills.
  • Ability to manage complex cases and build positive relationships with children and families.
