West Berkshire Council is seeking an experienced and motivated Social Worker to join its Contact, Advice and Assessment team in Newbury. This is a fantastic opportunity to work in a service that plays a pivotal role in the safeguarding and wellbeing of children and families.

Key Responsibilities:

• Undertake assessments of children and families following referrals to the service
• Manage Child in Need, Child Protection, and Initial Child Protection Conference work
• Deliver evidence-based interventions tailored to children and family needs
• Work collaboratively with partner agencies to safeguard children and promote positive outcomes
• Ensure that children’s voices are central to assessments, plans, and reviews

Candidate Requirements:

• Social Work England registration
• Strong experience in assessment and safeguarding social work
• Skilled in communication, risk assessment, and evidence-based report writing
• Ability to work within statutory frameworks and meet timescales effectively
• Commitment to high standards of practice and supporting positive family change
