Locum Social Worker - Unaccompanied Asylum-Seeking Children – Looked After Children Service
Location: Surrey County Council - Reigate
Pay Rate: Up to £42 per hour

Are you an experienced Social Worker looking for a rewarding role where you can make a lasting impact on young lives? Surrey County Council’s Looked After Children (LAC) Service is seeking a dedicated Locum Social Worker to join the team, specialising in Unaccompanied Asylum-Seeking Children (UASC).
You will work as part of a committed team providing high-quality social work support for unaccompanied asylum-seeking children and young people in their care. Your role will focus on safeguarding, care planning, and helping these young people build safe and positive futures. This is a challenging but highly rewarding role, where your expertise and compassion will directly influence outcomes.
Manage a caseload of Looked After Children and young people, specifically UASC, ensuring their needs are assessed and met.
Develop and implement robust care plans, liaising with multi-agency teams to ensure holistic support.
Undertake statutory visits, assessments, and reviews in line with legal and local authority requirements.
Build strong, trusting relationships with children and young people, advocating for their best interests.
Ensure compliance with all safeguarding policies and procedures, providing high-quality written reports and case recordings.
Qualified Social Worker (Degree in Social Work or equivalent).
Current registration with Social Work England.
Experience in Looked After Children services, ideally with UASC or similar vulnerable groups.
Strong knowledge of relevant legislation (Children Act 1989, 2004, and associated guidance).
Ability to work under pressure and manage a complex caseload.
Full UK driving licence and access to a car.
Competitive pay rate up to £42/hr.
