Havering Council is seeking a dedicated Fostering Social Worker to join their supportive and well-established Fostering Service. If you're passionate about supporting foster carers and ensuring the best outcomes for children, this role offers a great opportunity to make a difference within a borough committed to high standards of care.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide supervision, guidance, and support to foster carers, ensuring they meet the needs of children in placement.
Conduct comprehensive fostering assessments using Havering’s strengths-based practice model.
Develop and implement support plans tailored to both the needs of the children and their foster families.
Collaborate with multi-agency partners to ensure placements are stable, safe, and supportive.
Facilitate foster carer training, development sessions, and support groups.
Participate in fostering panel presentations and contribute to decision-making processes.
Undertake Form F assessments and support kinship carers as part of the Connected Persons fostering process.
Complete regular reviews of foster carers, ensuring compliance with fostering regulations and Havering’s policies.
Requirements:
Qualified Social Worker with Social Work England registration.
Experience in a fostering service or children’s social care setting.
Strong understanding of fostering regulations, the Children Act 1989, and relevant safeguarding legislation.
Excellent assessment, relationship-building, and advocacy skills.
Ability to work flexibly in a hybrid role, with office attendance as required.
