Social Work Practice Educator – Learning Academy (Birmingham, West Midlands)
£33.30 per hour | Agency contract (maternity cover) | Hybrid working

We’re recruiting an experienced Social Work Practice Educator (PE1 & PE2) to join a Learning Academy in the West Midlands. This is a brilliant opportunity for someone who enjoys developing others and strengthening practice across a service, working closely with apprentices, students and ASYEs.

The post is based in Birmingham with free on-site parking, and offers a hybrid working pattern (office-based when delivering workshops and planned learning activity).

About the role

You’ll play a key role in supporting and developing the workforce, providing high-quality practice education and structured learning support. The focus is on training, coaching and assessment, ensuring learners receive consistent guidance and meaningful development throughout their placement or programme.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide practice education and assessment for Social Work Apprentices, students and ASYEs

  • Plan and deliver workshops and learning sessions aligned to service priorities

  • Offer coaching, observation and reflective supervision to learners to support progression

  • Complete required documentation, reports and assessment paperwork to a high standard

  • Support and contribute to the development of other Practice Educators

  • Liaise with team managers, universities/training providers and internal stakeholders to ensure quality and consistency

  • Maintain accurate records and contribute to continuous improvement within the Learning Academy

Requirements

  • Social Work qualification (DipSW, CQSW, BA/MA Social Work or equivalent)

  • Registration with Social Work England

  • Practice Educator qualification PE1 and PE2

  • Minimum 5 years post-qualified statutory social work experience

  • Proven experience supporting students and/or ASYEs, including assessment and development

  • Confident delivering workshops and structured learning activity

  • Strong report writing, communication and organisational skills
