Responsibilities:

• Conducting comprehensive pre-birth assessments to identify potential risks and needs
• Developing and implementing effective care plans for expectant mothers and their unborn children
• Providing intensive planned intervention, assessment, and support during pregnancy to parents where support needs and/or risks have been identified
• Collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams to ensure the safety and well-being of both mother and child
• Providing support and guidance to expectant mothers, helping them access necessary services and resources
• Preparing detailed reports and attending court proceedings when necessary
• Ensuring a coordinated approach by working closely with Midwifery and other partner agencies
• Assessing, providing support, safety planning, and risk managing the safeguarding needs of the unborn baby, including initiating care proceedings

Requirements:

• Qualified Social Worker registered with Social Work England
• Strong assessment, analytical, and report-writing skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage a diverse caseload

The Pre-Birth Assessment Team plays a vital role in safeguarding unborn children and supporting expectant mothers. This team provides intensive intervention, assessment, and support during pregnancy to parents where support needs and/or risks have been identified, particularly when parents may have older children who have been removed from their care. Working closely with Midwifery and other partner agencies, the team ensures a coordinated approach to safeguarding, making it an ideal place for social workers dedicated to making a difference.
