Safeguarding Team | Salford Council | £39 per hour

Salford Council is looking for an experienced Social Worker to join its Safeguarding team on a locum basis. This is a strong opportunity for a capable practitioner who is confident managing complex child protection work, progressing plans effectively, and delivering strong outcomes for children and families.

This role would suit a Social Worker with solid statutory frontline experience, strong safeguarding knowledge, and the ability to manage risk and long-term planning within a busy local authority setting.

Role Overview

As part of the Safeguarding team, you will work with children and families where there are child protection and child in need plans in place. You will be responsible for managing complex cases, completing purposeful visits and assessments, and ensuring plans are progressed in a timely and effective way to improve outcomes and reduce risk.

Key responsibilities

  • Manage a caseload of children subject to Child Protection and Child in Need plans
  • Undertake statutory visits and assessments in line with service requirements
  • Progress safeguarding plans with clear focus and oversight
  • Complete risk assessments, reports, and case recordings to a high standard
  • Work closely with partner agencies to ensure coordinated safeguarding interventions
  • Attend core groups, strategy meetings, child protection conferences, and legal planning meetings
  • Build effective relationships with children, families, and professionals to support positive change

Requirements

  • Social Work England registration
  • Social Work qualification
  • Previous experience within a Safeguarding, Child Protection, or frontline children’s team
  • Strong working knowledge of safeguarding legislation and statutory guidance
  • Ability to manage complex cases and work effectively under pressure
  • Enhanced DBS
