Senior Practitioner – Duty & Assessment
(Bracknell Forest Council)

Pay Rate: £42 per hour
Hours: 37 hours per week
Contract: Locum

About the Role

Bracknell Forest Council is seeking an experienced Senior Practitioner to join their Duty & Assessment Team. This is a key frontline position responsible for managing complex assessments, supporting social workers, and ensuring children and families receive timely, effective intervention.

You will take the lead on complex safeguarding work, provide guidance to less experienced staff, and contribute to the development of high-quality, relationship-based practice across the service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee Child & Family Assessments within statutory timescales.
  • Manage complex safeguarding cases, including Section 17 and Section 47 enquiries.
  • Provide professional guidance and reflective support to social workers within the team.
  • Chair multi-agency meetings and contribute to robust decision-making.
  • Ensure assessments, plans, and reports reflect high-quality analysis and child-focused practice.
  • Work closely with partner agencies to strengthen risk management and early intervention.
  • Support the team manager in delivering a consistent, high-performing duty service.

Practice Model Used

Bracknell Forest uses a Family Safeguarding Model, which is strengths-based, multi-disciplinary, and focused on keeping families together where safe and appropriate. This model incorporates specialist adult workers (domestic abuse, mental health, substance misuse) into Children’s Services teams, promoting better outcomes through a holistic, joined-up approach.
