Bracknell Forest Council

Pay Rate: £42 per hour

About the Role

Bracknell Forest Council is seeking an experienced Senior Practitioner to join their Family Safeguarding Team. This is a key frontline role where you’ll lead on complex safeguarding work, provide professional oversight to social workers, and contribute to strong, consistent, child-centred practice across the service.

You’ll manage complex assessments, support multi-agency plans, and ensure families receive timely, strengths-based intervention that promotes safety, stability, and long-term resilience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead on complex Child in Need, Child Protection, and PLO cases.
  • Complete high-quality assessments and safety plans.
  • Provide coaching, guidance, and professional support to social workers.
  • Chair or contribute to multi-agency meetings and reflective discussions.
  • Prepare robust, analytical reports for panels and courts where required.
  • Work collaboratively with specialist adult workers within the Family Safeguarding model.
  • Promote a culture of learning, reflection, and best practice within the team.

Practice Model Used by Bracknell

Bracknell Forest uses the Family Safeguarding Model, a nationally recognised, strengths-based approach that integrates specialist adult practitioners — such as domestic abuse, mental health, and substance misuse workers — directly into Children’s Services teams.

This model supports:

  • holistic, whole-family practice
  • improved information sharing
  • more effective risk reduction
  • positive, relationship-based engagement

It’s one of the most supportive and structured practice frameworks in the country.
